Sunday Night Opening & Welcome Session: Celebrating Our “Human Capital”
Our Opening Session combines Food, Fun, Friendship and a bit of Folly as we share a picnic meal together, get to know each other and BRI, renew friendships and make new connections. The Program & Activities Committees have joined forces to welcome all, take a trip down BRI memory lane, preview the action-packed weekly schedule, meet BRI Leadership, listen to the first edition of the “News” and kick-off the “Annual BRI Exercise & Weight Loss Program through Dancing.”

Monday: Understanding and Working with Poverty in America
Morning Plenary Session
▪ Rebecca Rhodes, Director, Institute for Leadership Developmnt, South Carolina
Afternoon Session ▪ Terry Tolan, Executive Director, Kentucky Office of Early Childhood
This session will explore Poverty Indicators beyond “financial” ones, guiding participants to explore their personal values and attitudes toward Poverty. Ms. Rhodes is an expert on life coaching regarding the Poverty Mentality which permeates gender, age, ethnicity and self-assessment. This will be a highly interactive session with opportunities to learn from and work with current, real-life examples. The afternoon session, led by Terry Tolan, Executive Director of the Kentucky Office of Early Childhood, will continue to engage participants in an experiential exercise to better understand poverty. -----Download: www.blueridgeinstitute.net/files/lwcents2011.zip

Tuesday: Finding Hidden Treasure: Social Enterprise

Dave will provide an overview of the work of the NCSE and a detailed discussion of the Social Enterprise Curricula that has assisted hundreds of social services agencies to move to a whole new level of sustainability and self sufficiency, while reducing overall level of dependence on donors. Wednesday: Finding Hidden Treasure: Federal Claiming & Multiplying Your $$

This session will review how non-profits and government programs can maximize revenue in these “stingy” times, including federal claiming, match and leveraging. Friday: Keeping Our Emotional Balance Sheet in the Black

Fall Creek Falls provides us with the opportunity to rest and recharge our emotional battery.  How do we take home the balance we may have found here?  Can we have a real life when we have a real mission to help those in need?  Ginny Weatherstone will talk about what she’s learned from 39 years in the helping profession and what she has learned from other cultures and traditions. -----Visit: www.vmcinc.org

In an exciting new development, our online registration now allows for payment by credit card or check!  Of course, you may also pay by check if you prefer.

HOUSING at Fall Creek Falls State Park (www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/FallCreekFalls)
The accommodations at the State Park include hotel rooms, cabins and villas. Fall Creek Falls has set aside a number of rooms for our Blue Ridge Institute.  Attendees at the 2011 Institute are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible. Rates for available accommodations will be quoted at the time of your reservation.  BRI members 62 and older are entitled to a 10% discount on room rates. (Bring your nonprofit tax ID certificate for reduction on certain sales taxes.)  Fall Creek Falls has RV/camping sites available. Please contact the State Park for details and rates.

MEALS at Fall Creek Falls are available in the Inn Dining Room.  They are served buffet style or can be ordered from the menu. Attendees are charged by the meal and can pay immediately or accumulate meal costs on their room tab. (Gratuities are not included with the meal.)   BRI members 62 and older are entitled to a 10% discount for meals.

2011 ACTIVITIES INFORMATION
The morning Professional Development sessions begin at 8:30 am with music, announcements and the Network NEWS…..and end at 12:15 pm.   A unique aspect of BRI, however, is that most afternoons and evenings are set aside for informal networking through a diverse schedule of Activities and for time to spend with your family.  For most of us, this blending of “work and play” has led to exciting idea exchanges, as well as long lasting friendships that pull us back every year.  Tuesday is the Excellent Talent Show, so start working on your 5 minutes of FAME!  CLICK HERE for a list of the many activites available. 2011 SUMMER YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
The Summer Youth Leadership Academy of Blue Ridge Institute (formerly known as the Children's Program) is open to any child/teenager (ages 4-15) of a registered BRI participant!  There will be morning and evening sessions --  8:15 am to 12:15 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The program is segmented by age: 4-7, 8-12, and 13-15 and is facilitated by five Nonprofit Management students receiving internship credit from Georgia College, Milledgeville, GA (parental assistance will be solicited on an as needed basis). The children will spend the afternoons with their families.

• Wednesday night – Special party with music, games, food and more
• Other fun and surprises in the works!
